A little about me

I am a husband and a father and writing is my passion. Check out www.kennethwbarber.com for up to date info about me and to purchase copies of my work.

I'm Back!

Hello Barber-ians,
It's been awhile since I posted here. Sorry 'bout that! Life and love and writing and jiu-jitsu all conspired to keep me super busy. That being said...
I am in the middle of a massive rewrite of A Knight of the Blood. Lily Michaels of @3BookBabes just completed a two night live tweet of the first twelve chapters of the rewrite. Haven't heard of @3BookBabes? Well, you will. In fact, you just did! Now, go follow them on Twitter. And while you're there, follow me as well at @kwbauthor.
Some quick updates on me: I am getting ready to test for my blue belt in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Yeah! As mentioned, I am approximately halfway finished with a rewrite of A Knight of the Blood. I am looking at a possible revision (new cover maybe?) for The Harrowing. Go check it out. It's available on Amazon, Nook, blah, blah, blah.
I'm watching some cool shows. American Gods just wrapped up it's first season on Starz. Go check it out. It's great! Neil Gaiman continues to prove his genius. Wynonna Earp on SyFy. Go watch it. Season 2 is on now. Season 1 is on Netflix. You'll thank me.
Writing. Writing. Writing. Very busy with my rewrite. It's a ton of work, but the book is much better for it.
Check out my wife's blog post on head hopping at https://www.tkbarber.com/single-post/Head-Hopping-101. Lots of really great and useful info on a common mistake made at some point by all writers. All.
Well, gotta go for now. I'm going to make a serious effort to post at least once a week from now on. Sometimes about books, sometimes about movies, sometimes about general geek stuff, lots about writing.
See you later, Barber-ians. And, as always, keep writing!

Book Review: A Plot For Pridemore

Hello Barber-ians,
Today I have a special treat for you. A review of A Plot For Pridemore by Stephen Roth (see author interview earlier in the blog). Enjoy.

Stephen Roth is a storyteller. He has the ability to create characters that are so quirky and personable that you could picture them sitting beside you in the coffee shop on Saturday. In A Plot For Pridemore Mr. Roth brings to life the struggles and triumphs of small town life. The story is a fast paced romp through the politics of Pridemore, Missouri and through the lives of its citizens. The story moves quickly and weaves humor, nostalgia and just enough drama throughout the highly engaging prose to give the reader a complete emotional experience. Mayor Roe Tolliver is searching for a way to save his town after the highway that had been its lifeline is rezoned. What he comes up with, how he enlists the aid of his cronies and the way the plan goes right and wrong will leave you laughing and, for those of you from small towns similar to Pridemore, just a little bit homesick. Mr. Roth masterfully tugs on the heart strings of his readers. The characters are multidimensional, each possessing qualities both good and bad. Give yourself time to read this one because once you start you won’t want to stop until your visit to Pridemore is finished.

We'll miss you Fergie, baby!

Hello Barber-ians,
First of all, Craig Ferguson is the funniest man in the talk show world. Period. His unique blend of sharp, incisive (yet still hilarious) commentary blended with a willingness to make a complete buffoon of himself for our entertainment has won him a place in the hearts of all who love funny. And he is funny. Really funny. I have never failed to laugh at any episode of the Late, Late Show. And let's not forget his faithful sidekicks, Geoff Peterson (the gay, robot skeleton) and Secretariat (the two person, fake, dancing horse). Ferguson would have been a wonderful replacement for Letterman. No disrespect to Stephen Colbert, who is very funny in his own right.

Well, for those of you who haven't heard, Craig is leaving the talk show world after this season. He announced his retirement and The Late, Late Show, if it continues at all, will never be the same. But not all is lost Fergie lovers. Craig is close to closing the deal on a new talk show, and he is reportedly bringing along his trusty sidekick, Geoff Peterson, and Late, Late Show executive producer, Michael Naidus. The show, provided nothing goes wrong, is slated to begin airing in Fall of 2015. Also, airing the 22nd of next month, Craig will be the host of a syndicated game show, Celebrity Name Game The game will involve two teams consisting of a civilian player and a celebrity guest , attempting to identify celebrities and fictional characters.

So, take heart and keep watching. Craig Ferguson is sure to have us in stitches for years to come.
